Which currencies does Mondido support?

If you sell to customers outside the country where your online store is registered, it can be useful to add additional currencies to your payment solution.

Mondido can assist you with currency conversion. Feel free to contact us if you are using Shopify and have a base currency other than SEK.

How it works for card payments

There are two ways to handle multiple currencies:

1. Add currencies and receive payouts in your standard currency

You can add currencies in Mondido and let the payments be converted before they are paid out to your bank account.

2. Use a currency account with your bank

If you have a high volume of transactions in a specific currency – for example EUR – it may be beneficial to open a currency account with your bank.
Banks often offer lower conversion fees, making this a cost-efficient option for larger volumes.

Differences between payment methods

The currency used may vary depending on the payment method.

For example, Swish is always processed in SEK by the bank, regardless of the currencies you support in your store.

If you are using Shopify and have a base currency other than SEK – for example EUR – you will therefore need a currency conversion rule set up by our support team to ensure payments are handled correctly.

How to add more currencies

Contact Mondido Support and we will help you add additional currencies to your account.

If you want to receive payouts in a currency other than the one you selected when signing your acquiring agreement, you will also need to contact your acquirer so they can link your currency account.

Keep in mind possible bank fees

Some banks may charge fees for receiving payments in foreign currencies or from abroad.
Check this with your bank to avoid unexpected costs.
